When Black Meets White

Residential Interior Design by Ming Chan Chiang

Walking into the open shared living space, one will notice that the designer has integrated the living room, dining room, and kitchen areas. By not setting up partitions, the designer not only increases the functional interior space but also allows the whole family to interact and bond. On the other side, the designer set black and white as the main color scheme for the living room, with bright orange leather chairs as the finishing touch to enliven the space.

This interior design project, named "When Black Meets White," is a stunning example of contemporary light luxury. Designed by Ming Chan Chiang, this residential space showcases the perfect blend of black and white tones, delicate lines, and metal elements. The integration of the living room, dining room, and kitchen areas creates a seamless flow and encourages interaction among family members.

The primary color scheme of black and white in the living room exudes elegance and sophistication. The addition of bright orange leather chairs adds a pop of color and liveliness to the space. The designer's attention to detail is evident in the choice of materials and textures, creating a modern and luxurious ambiance.

One unique feature of this design is the storage cabinet thoughtfully planned for the homeowner's action figure collection. This cabinet not only provides a practical solution for organizing and displaying the collection but also adds visual interest to the space. The glass display cabinet behind the sofa further enhances the visual appeal and extends the sense of space.

The dining area and kitchen continue the black and white color scheme, with a double ring linear chandelier above the dining table adding a touch of modern luxury. The kitchen island serves multiple functions, acting as a dining table and a food preparation counter, maximizing the efficiency of the limited space.

Moving to the second floor, the private living space maintains the black and white tones, complemented by warm wood tones to create a cozy and comfortable atmosphere. The master bedroom exudes a sense of warmth and spatial expression, providing a comfortable retreat for the residents. The dressing room is designed with gray glass, allowing natural light to penetrate and eliminating the feeling of confinement.

The secondary bedroom features an earthy color scheme, creating a distinct and elegant atmosphere. Each space in this design showcases the designer's attention to detail and the ability to create unique and inviting environments.

Completed in July 2022 in Taiwan, "When Black Meets White" is a testament to Ming Chan Chiang's expertise in interior design. This project, spanning approximately 195 square meters, demonstrates the designer's ability to optimize space and create a harmonious blend of aesthetics and functionality.

This exceptional design has been recognized with the Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2023. The award acknowledges the well-designed, practical, and innovative nature of this project, meeting professional and industrial requirements. "When Black Meets White" stands out for its integration of industry best practices, competent technical characteristics, and its contribution to a better world.
